Well Drilling - Moving Parts!
There are a lot of moving parts, so to speak, when you hire professionals to drill a well on your property—and specific things you can do to further ensure a job done right.
Here are a few considerations and things to expect before we arrive at your property.
Preparation
To prepare your property for our arrival, please ensure:
-
Your property is on relatively flat land
-
The ground is solid and able to withstand the weight of a drill (approx. 40 tonnes)
-
Approx. 15' of clearance, so we can set up the drill
-
Your well will be drilled at least 50' away from any contaminants, and at least 75' from any livestock
Equipment
Our team will bring the following equipment to complete the job:
-
Truck-mounted drill rig (39' length x 104'' width x 13.6' in height, with a mass height of 41')
-
Service truck / transport truck cab with crane and materials (46' length x 8.6' width)
What to Expect During Drilling
Drilling can create quite a bit of mess and we do not do clean-up—so expect drill cuttings, pieces of overburden, mud etc. While we do our best to limit any damage to landscaped properties, the weight of our vehicles will likely leave some ruts etc.
Depending on how close we are to your house, we recommend you board up windows and tarp the sides.
If your property is near a water source like a lake or river, it is your responsibility to build a wall (hay bales) with a tarp—stopping any potential well cuttings from contaminating an open body of water
